He quickly turned his new powers on the Goddess of the Moon. While the battle was far from easy, Vol succeeded where the others had failed. He attacked Sol, and took him by surprise. Vol waited until the sun and moon were setting, with Sol and Lunas as far apart as possible. Vol spent time to plan his assault, an uncommon practice for the spontaneous god of fire, and watched as other Gods failed to take the two Heavenly Deities. The two made careful plans and defeated every god that came for their power. Before the war, the moon rose in the west, and crossed with the sun every day, which was the only time that the gods of the sun and moon could truly be together. The two Gods of the Heavens had been in love for centuries and worked together to keep the other gods at bay. Battles had already raged across the skies as other Gods attempted to take power from Sol and Lunas, the Gods of the Sun and Moon, but all attempts had failed. It wasn’t long before killing minor gods lost its charm, and Vol turned his eyes to the heavens. Many minor gods with domains similar to his found themselves the target of his wrath, and for a time he seemed unstoppable. Each God who stood in his way suffered a short, violent end. Never having been one for subtly, the God of Fire poured all of his power into his target, and destroyed the God of Fury in an incandescent battle that lasted a fortnight.įrom there, Vol began a campaign born of wrath and a lust for power, burning the lands in his wake.

His first target, the God of Fury, had already entered fully into the war murdering weaker gods in similar domains to his by the time Vol launched a full assault. When the Diefic War broke out he was one of the gods who delighted in the chaos, and made it his mission to gain power. After centuries of being ignored by many of his fellow gods, Vol was tired of living in the shadows. Vol started out as the God of Fire, but before the war he was considered to be a rather minor God, despite how much raw energy he was able to wield his temper and disdain for mortals had hampered his growth.
